![]() ![]() Like the Mazda 5 speeds, that Ford has used in their trucks since the 80s. Most of what I work on are the more modern transmissions. I have built old Top Loaders, T 10s, Chrysler 4 speeds. You should try building a Getrag transmission. The other thing to make sure of, is that you did not put a fork on a rail backwards, that will mess things up. That about the easiest manual transmission you could rebuild. Being an older transmission with a top cover and forks in the cover. There will be detents that hold each gate in the center position. ![]() The the forks should all be in the neutral position also. ![]() When putting any transmission back together, you need to have all of the sliders in the center of their travel/not engaged. So likely one of the forks is not in the groove in slider. And you had all three gates in the neutral position. Reading your post, I would say you had the transmission in a gear, or two when you put the top cover back on. ![]()
